Life
is a very interesting and challenging journey. The journey of life is usually
punctuated by different types of challenges. Depending on how we perceive and
respond to these challenges, our future could be easily sabotaged by them.
Unfortunately many of us have inaccurate perceptions of challenges of life;
this may be the consequences of our upbringing or past life experiences. Life
has many stations. These stations serve to allow us to think and rethink over
some things, actions or even certain relationships. Whatever we experienced in
our lives, whether positive or negative, must not be allowed to distort or
imprison our potential for success in the coming year. Kobi YaMaMda said,
“Never let yesterday use up too much of today.”
Just because some things went wrong in the past,
does not necessarily disqualify us for a better future ahead. We must
understand that the mistakes we make in life are not just failures, but rather
a valuable source of feedback on our journey of life, helping us to look back
with the intention of confronting our inaccurate beliefs, judgments and
perceptions.
Today I want us to discuss some key ingredients
that may help us make better use of our lives. These are; vision, time,
organization, implementation and relationships.
·
Vision: The
starting point of a successful, fruitful and meaningful life is vision. Vision
is a picture of what is possible for your life. It is a clear picture of a
preferred future. It is having a view of your destiny. Vision actually enables
us to conceive the realities of a preferred future before those realities are
realized in the events of life. Vision is a combination of faith and goal
setting. Vision is crucial because it throws us beyond our negative past or
present and gives us a positive view of the future. A great vision is
generational in nature, and is able to benefit our children and society. Vision
will also usually unearth purpose. Determination, focus and pursuit are
significant ingredients that make vision a reality. We must be focused and
determined to pursue our goals and vision with passion.
·
Time: Time as
we know it is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years
etc. Every opportunity has a time period. We must therefore use our time wisely
in life. How well we use our time will definitely show by the level and measure
of goals we shall achieve. Time management is key to a successful lifestyle. We
must train ourselves to assign a time for all our activities in order to
produce maximized results in our plans and vision.
·
Organization: We must
endeavor to make sure that all areas of our lives are structured well and
organized. A disorganized lifestyle wastes resources and time. We must bring
order and organization to everything we do. We must structure our activities
and our days. Things in our lives must be put into a proper or systematic
order, and arrangement for easy flow. Our lives must operate according to
principle in order for us to achieve desired results. To be organized also
means to plan, and direct activities in our lives, so that everything we do is
governed.
·
Implementation: This
means we must act on our plans. If we do not timely put action to our plans, it
is as good as if we never planned anything. Vision, and goals must be enforced
by action. It is not enough to have an action plan, we must act on it. We must
determine to put into effect our plans. Implementation is basically translating
an idea into action in a manner consistent with purpose and vision.
·
Relationships: All of
us want to be successful in life. We must, therefore, also understand that the
basis of real life is people and how we connect and relate to them. Jesus
Christ profoundly said, “Therefore whatever you want others to do for you, do
so for them.” (Matthew 7:12). Almost all of us want people to encourage us,
appreciate us, not take advantage of us, not speak evil about us, fairly
criticize us, forgive us when we mess up, pick us up when we fall, listen to us
when we have issues, and even to understand us. We must decide to treat others
the way we want to be treated. However no matter how much we live a godly life
or walk in relational wisdom, we will always encounter those who will
consciously or unconsciously try to sabotage our journey of destiny. Perhaps
one of the most problematic people we will encounter in the journey of life is,
the accuser. These are people who take pleasure in scrutinizing and questioning
every aspect of our lives in order to discredit us, minimize our influence and
destroy us. We must build the capacity to admit our shortcomings, correct our
behavior and move on. Never change the God given direction of your life because
of haters and accusers. Keep on going; you will finally arrive at the point of
fulfilling purpose and destiny.
